Going up to Eugene, Oregon will have home field advantage in what should be a tune up game against JMU. With No.5 ranked Oregon favored at -21.5 the Dukes are a proper underdog. This is JMUs first ever College Football Playoff Ranking, JMU was led by Curt Cignetti from 2019-2023 establishing a winning football program that has since been taken over by Bob Chesney, Chesney along with Ryan Day and Curt Cignetti are the top finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award.

As they did in the SBC championship, JMU will rely on Running Back Wayne Knight to gain yardage offensively after Quarterback Alonza Barnett III went 10/25 for 93 yards. Barnett was able to pick up 85 yards on his feet, Knight with 21 carries for 212 yards averaging 10.1 and the longest being a 73 yard touchdown.

The Oregon defense ranks one of the best in the nation overall, this a very disciplined group with minimal penalties. The Oregon offense also ranks highly among competitors, ranking No.8 in total yards and No.2 in yards per play.

Against Washington Dante Moore went 20/29 for 286yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. Moore finished with a QBR of 87.2, averaging QBR of 77.2 on the season.

My Predictions:

This is a tune up game for Oregon, The Ducks look better in every way. The spread would make sense to take if you think Oregon intends to put pedal to metal and decimate. I see Oregon using this as a bye week more than a statement game. The smart play is getting up big early and putting in the 2nd string.
