With CFB coming to an end and Ohio State losing to Miami, I’m ready to look toward the spring with the Red Sox and Duke Basketball heating up. Here’s a brief update on the Red Sox offseason so far,

• Sox acquired Right handed pitchers Sonny Gray from the Cardinals and Johan Oveido from the Pirates.

2025 Stats

Sonny Gray went 14-8, a 4.21 ERA, 201 Strikeouts, and a 1.23 WHIP with 180.2 innings pitched.

Oveido missed the 2024 season with Tommy John surgery, and started 9 games beginning in August 2025. 2 wins and 1 loss, ERA 3.57, 40.1 innings pitched for a WHIP of 1.21, and 41 strikeouts.

Talking Batts…

• Center fielder Wilson Contreras has been added in exchange for top prospect Hunter Dobbins.

Contreras finished 2025 with a .257 avg, 20 homers, 80 RBI, and a .791 OPS.

• Hunter Dobbins had a fire in him this season prior to his season ending ACL tear and will definitely be missed.

• Alex Bregman is still in free agency uncertainty, with reports of a major offer being made by the Sox at the time of this writing, the most recent offer being $160 million for 5 years.

With a strain injury sitting Bregman for over a month, he still managed to play 114 games in 2025 with .273 avg, 18 homers, 62 RBI, and a .822 OPS.

• Multiple free agent batts still up for grabs…

Bo Bichette of the Toronto Blue Jays and Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks being a focus of the Sox front office currently.

Bichette had .311 avg, 18 homers, with 139 games played.
