Line: -4 Texas A&M

Miami’s coming off a conference victory at Pitt 38-7, The Aggies loss at Texas, in their last games leading up to playoffs. This should give us enough to break down where our weaknesses and strong points are this late in the season.
With Miami’s offense against Pitt, Carson Beck went 23/29 and 267 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception for a QBR of 81.9. Running Back Girard Pringle Jr. rolled like a meatball and broke for a 38 yard touchdown, 10 carries for 82 yards, averaging 8.2 a carry against a Pitt defense ranked 3rd in rushing yards allowed. In the game prior Miami Carson Beck went 27/32 for 320 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions with a QBR of 95.3 against the poor defense of Virginia Tech.
The Hurricanes defense ranks 6th nationally in points per game allowed with 13.8, and 7th nationally against the run with 86.8 yards allowed per game. With 4 combined sacks against Pitt and 5 sacks against Virginia Tech the Miami defense has no problem pressuring opposing quarterbacks.
Texas A&Ms quarterback Marcel Reed at Texas went 20/32 for 180 yards 0 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Some gains were made on the ground though it was a squad effort with 157 yards total rushing.
The Aggies defense showed a lot of flaws, inability to complete tackles and breaking down in coverage led to large Texas Gains. A&M did come away with 2 sacks but gave up a 35 yard Arch Manning rushing touchdown.
My predictions:
Watching back at Texas A&M v. Texas, Texas showed a lot of cover 2 and different variations of zone which limited A&M’s ability to get deep for larger gains and resulted in gaps being filled by the safety’s closing the run game. Miami I can imagine will be running a balance of zone and blitz for pressure as they have historically under Corey Hetherman.
Texas A&M defense broke down in the 3rd quarter after being up 10-3 at halftime, Texas ran for a total of 218 yards with 10 carries for 83 yards in the 3rd quarter alone.
Miamis defense should replicate what Texas accomplished with to limit the run game. Offensively with the recent tuning games for Carson beck and his QBR in those games gives momentum for Miami to cover the spread of -4 Texas A&M.
Go Canes 🙌
